Ducklings
The first level on our Baby & Pre-school learn to swim journey. This class is aimed at children aged from 3 months - 1 year.
Clownfish
The second level on our Baby & Pre-school learn to swim journey. This class is aimed for children between 1 year - 2.5 years.
Starfish
The final level on our Baby & Pre-school learn to swim journey before progressing onto our Learn to Swim Programme without parents in the water. These lessons are aimed at children between 2.5 years of age until school age.
Seahorse
This level is suitable for non-swimmers or those who have limited water experience. By the end of this level we require the swimmer to swim 5m unaided on their front or back and show a good body position and leg kick on the other.
Seal
This level is suitable for those who are able to swim 5m unaided. By the end of this level, the participant is required to swim 10m unaided on their front and back.
Octopus
This level is suitable for those who can swim 10m unaided on their front or back. In this level they will start to learn front crawl breathing and arms, backstroke and breaststroke full stroke and be introduced to dolphin leg kick.
Goldfish
This level is for those who can swim a minimum of 15m unaided front and back. In this level they will start to develop stroke technique and be introduced to dolphin leg kick.
Jellyfish
This level is for those who can swim 50m unaided and who are able to swim a minimum of 10m Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke. In this level they will start to develop their stroke technique whilst building up their stamina ahead of the transition to our length classes.
Swordfish
In order to progress to this class, children must be able to swim a minimum of 20m Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke to a recognised standard. This is the first level of our length classes where children will start to develop their stroke technique across longer distances whilst building up their stamina and start to be introduced to lane discipline.
Whale
At this level, children can swim a minimum of 50m in each of the following strokes; Front Crawl, Backstroke and Breaststroke and 20m Butterfly.
Shark
At this level children can swim a minimum of 400m with the correct competitive starts and turns.
Advanced
The final level in our Learn to Swim Programme. At this level children work to achieve a distance of 800 - 2000 metres whilst performing the correct starts, turns and finishes for all 4 of the strokes.
Rookie Lifeguard
The RLSS Rookie Lifeguarding course offers an alternative to those who are aged 8 years and above and who can swim a minimum of 100m.
Adult Beginner
This level is suitable for Adult non-swimmers or those who have limited swim ability.
Adult Improver
These lessons are for adults who are confident in the water and are able to swim a minimum distance of 10m unaided in Front Crawl and Back Crawl.
